Configuring
Netscape 4.X News & Email
Netscape is a great browser.
If you don't have Netscape 4.0, you can download it at their site, Home.Netscape.com
The browser needs no setup other than installing it. For e-mail and
news you need to do a few things to the "Preferences/Options".
Launch Netscape, go to the "Edit" Menu and select "Preferences/Options".
Once open, setting it up on either platform is the same. You should
see a window that resembles Figure 1

Great, now open the "Mail & Groups" menu item. In here
choose "Identity" and fill it out so that it looks like Figure
2. Replace "username" with your username.

That was easy. Now select "Mail Server" and fill it out so
that it looks just like Figure 3. Remember to replace "username"
with your L A Bridge username.

Great, that takes care of your email. Now move to "Groups Server"
and fill it out so that is looks just like Figure 4.

That's it!
Click "OK" and your done.
How to subscribe to News
Groups
Select "Collabra Discussion
Groups" from the Netscape Icon menu next to Help. You will see
a window that resembles Figure 5.

Now double click "news.LABridge.com" to enter the subscribe
news groups window. Once open, it will take a few minutes to download
the news groups list to your computer. (Figure 6)

When downloading has completed you can go through the list and subscribe
to groups of your interest. When you locate topics that you are interested
in, select it and click the "Subscribe" button to the right.

Great, now that you have
all the news groups you want, click "OK". This will close
the subscribe window and take you back to the previous window. (Figure
8) Now you can expand the "News.LABridge.com" icon to all
the news groups you just subscribed to.

To read a news group you selected just double click on it and you will
see either Figure 10 or Figure 9 if it was a folder. Either way you
will end up at Figure 10 where you can read, reply and post your own
messages.

Now you can read the messages. The buttons on the top will help you
navigate, read, reply and post new messages to the news groups.

Now your all set on news groups!
Checking & Sending
Email
To check your email, select
"Messenger Inbox" from the Netscape Icon menu next to the
Help menu. Once open you can click on the top left corner of the e-mail
window (Note where the pointer is located) and it will retrieve your
e-mail. (Figure 11)

To write an email just click the button with the "Pen & Paper"
icon (Figure 11). This will open a new window(Figure 12) where you can
add the e-mail address in the "To" field, the subject of the
e-mail in "Subject" field and your message in the main text
area. When you are ready to send an e-mail just click the top left corner
button. (Note where the pointer is located)

menu in Netscape. This is an excellent resource for all your Netscape
needs and questions.

Now your all set up for surfing news groups and sending and receiving
e-mail.
