Configuring DSL DHCP Settings On OS X

Establishing a new DSL connection is easy and fast. L A Bridge servers will automatically configure your computer each time it starts up. This ensures that you always have the latest TCP/IP information and makes upgrades on our network transparent. We think you will find the process easier than what you have experienced setting up dial-up software in the past.

Before you start, make sure you have the following setup.

  • Make sure the ethernet wire that came with the DSL modem has one end connected to the DSL modem and the other end connected to your computer or an ethernet hub. If you have it connected to a hub, then make sure that you have an ethernet wire connected from the ethernet hub to ethernet port on your computer.
  • You must have administrator access on your OS X computer.

System Settings
 You will need to get into the System Settings window. You can find the System Settings icon in the Dock. If it's not in the Dock then you can find it via the finder. Simply click on the Desktop icon in the Dock (It's the smiling Mac face.) and click on Apps in the top. In here you can find the System Settings. Once you find it, double click on it to open it.

Network Settings
Now find the Network icon and click on it. When the TCP/IP panel shows up you'll notice everything is grayed out. To unlock it, click the little Lock icon in the bottom left hand corner. It will say "Click this lock to make changes." next to it. It will prompt you to login with an administrator's password.

3 TCP Settings
Once you enter an administrator password you will be able to edit the TCP/IP settings. Now in Configure menu change it to Using DHCP. In the Configure DNS menu change to Automatically. Once complete click Apply and then click the lock to lock it up. See example image below.
4 DHCP Setup Complete
